My client is the largest provider of 3G chipset and software technology in the world, with chipsets shipped to more than 50 customers and powering the majority of all 3G devices commercially available. They partner with nearly 60 3G network operators around the globe and have the largest CDMA engineering team in the wireless industry.

Description:

The Technical Account Manager (TAM) is an engineering role coordinating all technical and applications support provided to the customer. The role involves managing the customer's technical support needs through all phases of their product development, from concept to mass production for EU customers, and through acceptance test phases for non-EU customers.

The TAM works closely with the customer engineering teams to prioritise their support needs and to mobilise the appropriate technical resources. The TAM calls upon the global SW & HW applications engineering team to meet customer expectations for quality and response time for their technical support. The TAM will own all customer technical problems including SW, HW, quality, test, performance etc. and will drive priority within my client as well as set customer expectations for resolution.

The TAM is a key contributor in the dynamic and rapidly expanding customer support operation, supporting customers with mobile phone handset definition, design, verification, acceptance and training. Working across my client’s entire family of UMTS / GSM / CDMA2000 / BT /WLAN ASICs, multimedia, call processing & data service technologies. This includes managing the technical interface to the customer and the process to bring them to the best system solutions aligned with product roadmaps. This is NOT a sales position, although your input will be vital to the sales process.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Knowledge of digital mobile comm. techniques and engineering processes and tools. Preferably 2.5G / 3G wireless communications development or support engineering background
  • Strong organizational skills. Ability to prioritise and execute on a wide program of activity.
  • Strong communication & account reporting skills
  • Builds valuable relationships with key technical contacts within customer organization.
  • Demonstrates initiative & tenacity to drive issues to completion and across department boundaries.
  • Strong problem solving skills. Exhibit discipline & rigor in solving problems.
  • Knowledge of markets served by my client and applicable telecom standards
  • Fluent English and native Finnish, (or Finnish to proficient business standard) are pre-requisites
  • Must have worked for handset manufacturer recently. We are especially interested in anyone who has worked for Nokia handsets up to very recently, or else has an intimate knowledge of the Nokia handset business and technical managers within that organisation.
