Director of Engineering

We are looking for a very solid leader to manage our growing development team (currently 45 people) located in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The ideal candidate is an excellent manager with a proven record of coaching a young team into a rock-solid development group.  He is also a SCRUM guru, having worked on several projects in the past and able to navigate through its challenges with ease.

Requirements for applicants:

  • Is fluent in both English and Portuguese
  • Has more than 1 year of previous experience with SCRUM
  • Has a good experience working with high-performance, high-availability web applications
  • Is extremely familiar with Microsoft .NET, Java, Visual Studio, Eclipse, Team Foundation, Subversion, IIS, JBoss, SQL Server, Windows Server and Linux)
  • Has managed teams for American or European clients
  • Working Experience in US or Europe is a great plus!

Job Duties include:

  • Coordinate the implementation and continuous improvement of best development practices, standards, and procedures across the department.
  • Implement SCRUM on all projects and coach the team through its adoption.
  • Lead the Development team towards best engineering practices and excellent architecture.
  • Make the Quality Assurance team a perfect barrier for defects and part of the entire software life-cycle process.
  • Determine staffing requirements, recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate department staff
  • Coordinate and direct projects, prepare detailed plans delivering on company goals and directives.
  • Analyze technology and resource needs to plan and assess the feasibility of projects.
  • Responsible for the preparation and maintenance of the departmental budget.
  • Perform administrative functions such as reviewing and writing reports, approving expenditures, enforcing rules, and making decisions about the purchase of materials or services.
  • Recommend, review or approve contracts and cost estimates.
  • Travel requirements: 2 weeks every 6 months.
